BETTING INFO

At Tam's, you can choose from an exciting range of bets...

The Win Single is the most basic bet. This is where your money backs up the expectation of your selection coming first and you cash in only if your selection wins. But at Ladbrokes, you can also bet with Each Ways, Doubles, Trebles, Forecasts and many other, more advanced ways.

The Each Way Single bet doesn't require your selection to be first past the post for you to win, though if it does, you win twice over. If your selection comes second, third, or even fourth in some events, you are still in the money.

Let's say you pick a horse which would need a bit of luck to come first, but you confidently expect it to be placed, i.e. it will be in the first three.

Your Each Way Single is in fact two bets on the one horse. One bet is on the horse winning and the other bet is on it coming first, second, third or maybe even fourth.

Let's use an example to explain this fully...

We'll assume you put £5 E/W on Bloomingdale at 12/1.

If she came first, your winnings would be £60. (£5 stake x 12), and your stake would be returned too.

In addition, your Each Way Single pays out if your selection is placed first, second, or third, (sometimes fourth when there are a lot of runners) but at a reduced price.

So, in this case, Bloomingdale will have netted you £65 for a win, plus a further £20 for being placed.

The £20 is calculated thus:

Your £5 is staked at a place price of 3/1, which is one quarter (or one fifth depending on the race or event) of the SP, and returns £15 plus the stake, giving a total of £20.

Add the two halves of the Each Way Single together and you have £85 in your hand!

But, let's say that, true to your expectation, Blooming dale can only manage to place. In that case, the win part of the bet is lost, but the place part comes good, to the tune of £20.

In Doubles betting you make selections in two separate events and put on either a Win Double or an Each Way Double.

Any winnings you make on your first selection are carried forward to become the stake for the second.

However, both selections must come good for you to win.

Trebles betting can be even more rewarding but you must really know your stuff.

Again winnings from one stake are carried onto the next event and all selections must come good.

You can also place Doubles and Trebles across different sports. This means you can have a Double on the winner of the football Premier League and the winning horse in the Derby.
